calculus-curve sketching general questions

non-descriptive answers

OpenStudy (precal):

No, I actually have very specific questions. I am looking for someone to verify my findings.

go ahead

OpenStudy (precal):

Ok, I am working on a worksheet called How can one graph help describe another graph

OpenStudy (precal):

I am graphing 3 functions. First one is x^2, second one is the first derivate of x^2, and the third graph is the second derivative of x^2

OpenStudy (precal):

It is a worksheet for exploration and the purpose is for students to communicate about the graphs.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

very well, what are your findings :-) ?

OpenStudy (precal):

1. When is y1 increasing?decreasing?Changing from decreasing to increasing? Increasing from (0,+inf), Decreasing from (-inf , 0), Changing at (0,0)

OpenStudy (precal):

2. When is y2 positive? Negative? Changing from being negative to positive? Positive (0,+inf), Negative (-inf, 0), Changing at (0,0)

OpenStudy (precal):

3. When is y1 concave up? concave down? Concave up (-inf, inf) , does not convcave down

OpenStudy (precal):

4. What do you notice about the slope of y2? How is this reflected in the graph of y3? Positive slopes, y3 is positive or above the x axis

OpenStudy (precal):

Not sure if y3 is positive or above the x axis. Not sure which statement would receive credit for the AP Calculus Exam

OpenStudy (precal):

oh well, I think I need to go to my other website and see if there are any graders there than can doublecheck my solutions and answer that question. Thanks for helping.
