Evaluate the expression for a = –1 and b = 5. 5a – 7

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

is there supposed to be a b term in your problem ?

OpenStudy (haseeb96):

5(-1) -7 -5-7 -12 is the correct answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

well..if your problem has no b term, then Haseeb is correct...-12 is the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you get -12?

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

you sub -1 in for a 5a - 7 5(-1) - 7 -- distribute through the parenthesis -5 - 7 -- add your negatives -12 -- your answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh I get it. Thanks again

OpenStudy (texaschic101):
