The development studio behind the newest video game, Super Ostrich Racers, needs your help. Super Ostrich Racers is an exciting, fast-paced adventure game where your ostrich runs through twenty different levels while collecting coins. They need you to develop the number of coins and points for each level and provide data for the programming team. Create the data to fill in the tables below. The Coins table must be an arithmetic sequence and the Points table must be a geometric sequence. The common difference or ratio cannot equal 1 or 0. @ranga

@kc_kennylau

OpenStudy (ranga):

Create an arithmetic sequence for coins at each level: It could be 1, 4, 7, 10, 13, ... Create a geometric sequence for points at each level: It could be 1, 2, 4, 8, 16. Create a table up to 20 levels and fill in the data: LEVEL COINS POINTS 1 1 1 2 4 2 .... 20

OpenStudy (anonymous):

level coins points 1 1 1 2 4 2 3 8 3 like that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

? @ranga

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@shamil98

OpenStudy (aripotta):

the points can'ts be 1, 2, 3, ... because it says the difference can't be 1

OpenStudy (aripotta):

sorry, can't*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so whaat do they have to be?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

what ranga said could work "1, 4, 7, 10, 13, ..." that's a difference of 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok then what do i do?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

oh and your coins is messed up too :/

OpenStudy (aripotta):

no wait, gimme a sec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (aripotta):

yea, it's messed up. you have 1, 4, 8. but that couldn't work because if you multiplied 1 by 4, you get 4 and then you have to multiply 4 by 4 too and 4*4 isn't 8, it's 16

OpenStudy (aripotta):

just do what ranga said

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you explain what he said he left offline :(

OpenStudy (aripotta):

he said 1, 4, 7, 10, 13 for arithmetic (coins) and 1, 2, 4, 8, 16 for geometric (points). finish those sequences so that you have 20 numbers and then just fill in your table

OpenStudy (aripotta):

1, 4, 7, 10, 13 is a difference of 3 1, 2, 4, 8, 16 is a ratio of 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok how do I finish the sequences

OpenStudy (aripotta):

just keep adding 3 until you've reached 20 numbers.

OpenStudy (aripotta):

and then keep multiplying by 2 until you've reached 20 numbers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats it?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

yes

OpenStudy (aripotta):

make sure you write down the numbers in your table though

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you

OpenStudy (aripotta):

no problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there is a second part @AriPotta Provide reasons and justification of how you know the Coins sequence you created is arithmetic and how you know the Points sequence is geometric. Level Coins 1 2 3 Level Points 1 2 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

c.Planning is crucial in the early stages of this project. Demonstrate how a recursive process will allow you to find the number of coins and points on all levels up to level 5. d.The development team has asked you to jump ahead of them in the project. Create the sequence formulas, an, for the coins and the points based on the level in the game. Then describe how the formula can be used to find the coins and values on level 15. Use complete sentences. e.If the game only has 20 levels, explain how to find the value of the series for the coins and the points. Use complete sentences and arrive at final values. f.The programming team needs to understand the parameters for the game, in order to start coding it. Explain any restrictions to the domain and range of your sequences.
