51 is the product of Vanessa's height and 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Chineseboy15 @hartnn

OpenStudy (phi):

product means multiply as in 51 is height times 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so v3 = 51

OpenStudy (phi):

I would use h (for height). but v works to "solve" for v, divide both sides by 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i just need it in sentence form

OpenStudy (phi):

ok. normally people put the number in front of the letter... 3v =51 is more standard. (but v3 which means v*3 is correct)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhh okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so would 6 more than b = 6 + b

OpenStudy (phi):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks!

OpenStudy (phi):

if I get confused I sometimes try replacing the letter with a number, and the question makes more sense for example 6 more than b. replace b with 2 6 more than 2 is 8, and I know that is the same as 6+2, so 6 more than b is 6+b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh makes sense
