would this allude to a slave? “For an instant I dared to shake off my chains and look around me with a free and lofty spirit, but the iron had eaten into my flesh, and I sank again, trembling and hopeless, into my miserable self”
Not exactly. They would be a slave based on the circumstances in which made them in that situation. They are, of course, being kept captive, though. We would need more information to know whether they are a slave. :)
I wasn't completely sure on that answer. Does it help if I say this is from Frankenstein.
This is the part where Victor is in England trying to create Ms. Frankenstein Monster but he is extremely depressed.
Does the question expect you to know that?
Yes... this question is part of a study guide my teacher made and its the only one I am a little iffy about
I havent read the book in a while, so I'm still not entirely sure. Is the one in chains being forced to do something or being controlled in a manner that the owner creates a form of profit? Not necessarily money.
Yes, in a way. I know that you haven't read Frankenstein in a while but you must remember the protagonist Victor Frankenstein. Basically Victor was told by the monster that he must create or find a woman where he can love her forever. Victor agreed to help him since he cause so much pain to him but he extremely depressed when going to England with Henry Carvahl (Victor's best friend). Can the form of profit be the Woman Victor has to find or create?
Ah, yes. This seems like a viable form of profit. I would say yes. If the answer is no, you surely have a fair argument. Is the grading in a position where you can argue against it a little bit?
Yes, my teacher loves debating. To tell you the truth there is a high chance she wont grade this because there is so many things going on but I am still curious about the answer(s)
It seems like the answer is awfully dependent on personal ideals rather than a define answer. I would go ahead and answer with that and possibly bring it up in class in hopes of extra credit or points with the teacher. ;) Good luck!
Thank you, live long and prosper... sorry I have been watching a lot of Star Trek lately
Haven't we all? ;)
