y=4cos(1/2x + pi) - 1 Amplitude______ Period_____ Phase Shift______

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The amplitude is what is in front of cos, meaning the amplitude is 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B = 1/2, so 2pi/1/2 = 4pi That is your period

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I believe your phase shift is -1 because that shifts your entire graph

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you sure it's not pi?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The phase shift is the only one I am not sure about. No i am not sure it's not pi. I can see how you think that because phase shift is usually associated with what is in the parenthesis. If it does go by that, then the answer would be -1/2pi because that would cancel out the other pi. Does that make sense?

yes thank you!
