What are the solutions? 1/2x^2+2x+3=0

I know I have to use the quadratic formula, but I don't know how to find my A, B, and C values

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is it C=3 and B= 2 and A=1/2? That's the only thing that would make since to me but I'm just not sure.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Hi, Sarah! You're absolutely on the right track. You've identified A as 1/2. My only concern is that your 1/2x^2 is open to multiple interpretations; this could be resolved if you'd please enclose any such fractional coefficient within parentheses: (1/2)x^2.
