Why does Gandalf say that Thorin "does not yet make a very splendid figure as King under the Mountain"? A. Thorin refuses to lead the dwarves when it is time to do battle. B. Thorin behaves in ways that are rude, foolish, and undignified. C. Thorin declares himself to be a loyal subject of the Elvenking. D. Thorin decides to share the treasure hoard with others rather than keep it for himself.

Okay, C. would obviously not work because Thorin despises the Elves for not helping the dwarves when his kingdom was attacked by Smaug. D.Contradicts the entire question. So that leaves A and B. I will let you choose. When you find time, it is a really well written book. Best of Luck!
