to be technical its not "solving", in this case, it's "simplifying". But no biggy. Basically solving is when there is an equation with an equal sign and you isolate a variable on one side, leaving the variable by itself. You've "solved" for that variable.

12x minus 1x leaves 11x's -6y plus 6y leaves zero y's 9z minus 3z leaves 6z's hence, 11x + 0y + 6z same as 11x + 6z
