Find the value of y for a given value of x, if y varies directly with x. If y = 3.3 when x = 1.65, what is y when x = 4.85?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

9.7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you explain how you got that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i figured since you double 1.65 and you get 3.3 then you can double 4.85 and get the answer 9.7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does that help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y = kx 3.3 = k(1.65) k = 2 y = (2)(4.85) y = 9.7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep
