i have test due and i have no idea what i am doing can someone go step by step with me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it \[ x^2 + 5x = -2\]?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you want it set equal to zero, so add 2 to both sides and start with \[x^2+5x+2=0\] then you can use the quadratic formula \[x=\frac{-b\pm\sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}\]with \[a=1,b=5,c=2\]

okay ill do it now one second @satellite73
