Which of the following represent the zeros of f(x) = 6x3 + 25x2 – 24x + 5 ? –5, one–third, one–half 5, –one–third, one–half 5, one–third, – one–half 5, one–third, one–half
Just plug in those values into the function and see which one gives you zero.
I don't know what any of that means....I'm trying to check my son's work and I don't know how....
Give us something to work with. What section are you on? Factoring? Synthetic Division? Rational Root Theorem? Complex Values of Polynomials? Other?
synthetic division
i think it's -5, 1/3 and 1/2
You have to prove it. No guessing or "I think it's". Can you prove it? Synthetic Division CAN help you.
I can't but my son just did so that's good enough for me. it's his work I'm trying to check, but I failed algebra in college so I'm pretty sure he knows more about this than I do. Thanks for the help.
Good luck with that. You may wish to consider a local tutor if he gets to far ahead for you to support him adequately. You are awesome for giving it a go!
