You should have -6k-18=18k + 6 You can then bring over the 6 by subtracting it from each side -6k - 24 = 18k You can then divide the -6k to each side -24 = -3k Can you simplify from here?
I got -1
Now how did you get that? You have to get the k by itself There is a -3 multiplied to it Divide each side by -3, And your answer will be x = 8 Does that make sense?
