What would lead to a theory being retested?

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Perhaps new discoveries or characteristic? Welcome to OpenStudy!

Thank you and thank you! :D

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

You're very welcome. Is that response adequate?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Yes, a new discovery which may suggest a more profound explanation for something may lead to retesting of a theory. It might mean that the previous theory is either wrong, that it is incomplete, or something new came up.

OpenStudy (musicfreak):

Perhaps a discovery that the theory was wrong, or someone was able to find considerable amounts of evidence leading against the original theory. You would have to test the theory multiple times to see if there was a problem with it.
