Which statement about a wave produced by a doorbell is true? A. it does not require a medium to travel B.it propagates in the form of compression and rarefactions C. the particles of the wave medium vibrate perpendicular to the direction of the wave D. it propagates through the crests and troughs
What kind of wave is produced by a doorbell?
idk if this will help but particles in a medium move parallel with the wave right?:)
Not quite. Perpendicular. Matter doesn't get transferred, only energy. This might help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQrj0DNXjMY It's a bit weird though. Further help on waves: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXOeuoMR7Qg
Johnny, can you tell me what kind of waves doorbells make? i.e sound wave, micro wave, light wave
i think sound wave...
Alright, and what are the properties of sound waves? This might help: http://www.preservearticles.com/201012241573/difference-between-sound-waves-light-waves.html
the correct answer is B, thanks !
You're welcome. And regarding my post on particles moving perpendicular to the wave, that is for light waves or any transverse wave. Longitudinal waves like sound waves have particles move in parallel to the wave. So you were right, @annafromindiana My bad. Good job :)
