Wood lice are more active as they move from a dry area to a humid area. Which innate behavior are they displaying here? a) taxis b) migration c) kinesis please help me out on this:)

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Hello and welcome to OpenStudy! First, what do the 3 choices mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well taxis means oriented movement of a motile organism in response to an external stimulus, as toward or away from light. migration means movement from one part of something to another and im not sure what kinesis really means?..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I really need help I know its not migration:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its kinesis!:)

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Kinesis: a movement or activity of a cell or an organism in response to a stimulus So taxis is orientation based on stimuli, migration is movement, kinesis is bodily activity based on stimuli. Sorry I did not see that you have replied to this. I was helping someone else. Good job :)
