Points A and B on a number line have coordinates -3.5 and 8.5. Find the coordinate of the midpoint of AB.

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

Well, all you have to do is add 3.5 to 8.5, and take half of that number and then subtract the highest number by half of the total number. The midpoint is the point in the middle of a line created by two points. So, in this case, the midpoint would be 2.5, since 3.5 + 8.5 = 12, half of 12 is 6, so, you subtract 6 from 8.5 to get 2.5, which is 6 points away from both -3.5 and 8.5.

oh the answer is just 6 thanks!! @poopsiedoodle
