ON 31

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its b. 30 You have to divided 60 by 2! Hope it helps

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B. You need to make a proportion. Half of 48 is 24 SO we can apply the same concept. Half of 60 is 30. Thus B.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you divide by two because of the concept used to find the base 24, cause half of 48 is 24, so half of 60 is 30!

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Since the triangles are similar, the lengths of corresponding sides are proportional. Since the 48-in. side becomes a 24-in. side, that ratio is \(\dfrac{48}{24} \) Now you set that ratio equal to the ratio of the heights of the triangles. The 60-in. height is in the same ratio to the new height as 60 is to x. \(\dfrac{48}{24} = \dfrac{60}{x} \) Reduce the fraction on the left side: \(\dfrac{2}{1} = \dfrac{60}{x} \) Cross multiply: \(2x = 60\) \(x = 30\) The height of the child's tent is 30 in.
