Melons are spaced 1 meter apart in a square x-y grid. One plant is replaced by an irrigation sprayer. The sprayer covers those plants that satisfy the relationship x^2+y^2=20 meters, with the sprayer at (0,0). What are all the possible x coordinates of plants watered by this sprayer? What are all the possible y coordinates of plants watered by this sprayer? List the possible x-coordinates and the possible y-coordinates as separate sets, and sketch this situation. Is the relationship of x and y a function? Why?

OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):

sorry, I do not comprehend your question.

OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):

Do you have a diagram or something, so that I can see it better?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry there wasn't a diagram. I didn't really understand it, but I think I have to start off with x^2 + y^2 = 20 and then substitute 0 for x and then 0 for y. That's all I got sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Someone? Anyone? Please.

OpenStudy (perl):

isnt it a box ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's an x-y coordinate so yes it is.

OpenStudy (perl):

no i mean the melons are placed 1 meter apart, so thats a box

OpenStudy (perl):

something is odd about the english phrasing here

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry I'm not following. You mean the overall shape is box-shaped? That's the exact question gives to me.
