OpenStudy (smrougraff):

Annie walks 15 feet away from her house and places a mirror on the ground. She backs 4 feet away from the mirror so that she can see the tip of the roof. Annie's eyes are 5 feet above the ground. The angles between the top of the house, the mirror, and the ground and between Annie's eyes, the mirror, and the ground are congruent as shown in the image:

5/4 = x/15

OpenStudy (smrougraff):

Part 1: Prove the triangles are similar. Part 2: Determine the height of the house. I got the second part (18.75) but I'm having trouble on the first part

OpenStudy (anonymous):

18.75 feet is correct. I'm not good at proofs, but I'd use SAS because you can prove the hypotenuse and a leg are proportional. you can also show that you have right angles involved. Sorry I'm not too good at the first part.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's also given that the angle on either side of the mirror is the same from the markings...use that angle for the SAS theorem

OpenStudy (smrougraff):

Ya me either :) thanks for your help I'll try using SAS

1. The first statement should be the info given in the problem....Given |dw:1389041305216:dw|

2. angle c is congruent to angle c reflexive property Last statement: Triangle Abc is similar to triangle dec by SAS|dw:1389041458997:dw|
