What role did Rome play in the Renaissance, reformation, and European Exploration?

Well the Renaissance started in Italy, and it flourished into Europe. In flourence Italy, during the middle ages, everyone believed the world was hard and was meant for only work, not fun, but during the 1300's, Italy started looking back at Early Rome, and saw their works of art and culture, and this is how the Renaissance mainly started.
