-6 < 4x + 2 < 6 This is 2 things put together. We can solve it together but if you have problems understanding than maybe it is better to split it into 2. a, -6 < 4x + 2 and b, 4x + 2 < 6 Lets start with a, -6 < 4x + 2 -8 < 4x -2<x Now b, 4x + 2 < 6 4x < 4 x<1 Put together again: -2<x<1
