twenty-three and nine-elevenths divided by three and one-seventh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you turn them into improper fractions ? Do you know how to do that ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

23 9/11..take the whole number and multiply it by the denominator (23 x 11) = 253, now add that to the numerator (253 + 9) = 262, now put that over the original denominator (11) and you will get 262/11. same thing with the other one... 3 1/7...(3 x 7 + 1) / 7 = 22/7 so we now have 262/11 divided by 22/7 when dividing fractions, " flip " what you are dividing by, then multiply 262/11 divided by 22/7 = 262/11 * 7/22 = 1834/242 which reduces to 917/121 or if you need it in mixed number form, it is 7 70/121
