Considering that Greece's climate was either horribly dry, incredibly humid, or violently stormy, it made agriculture very difficult. The terrain was not very helpful either. They raised, mainly, goats and sheep for food. In certain areas they also raised pigs and chickens. They had donkeys, mules, horses, and oxen for working animals. During this time period, almost all of Greek farm diet was grain/cereal. Mainly barley. They were really big on olive trees for making olives and olive oil. Probably saved their life actually. They also grew cabbage, onions, garlic, lentils, chick peas, beans, sage, mint, thyme, savory, oregano, fig, almond, apple, pears, linseed, sesame seeds, and poppy seeds.
