How do I know without calculating whether the definite integral is positive or negative ... if I have a (top row) = -2 and b (bottom row) = -10 and the function itself is arctan(x)/x? I had this question in my work and I couldn't answer to it.

OpenStudy (isaiah.feynman):

Obviously...that integral is the area between -2 and -10, and areas can not be negative so that integral must be positive.
