OpenStudy (trantom):

I want to confirm something about factoring quadratics? Thanks. I need to write an equation for this, so if you don't see my reply yet, please excuse me....

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

okie dokie

OpenStudy (trantom):

\[ax ^{2}+bx+c=(factor of "a"_{1}(x) + factor of "c"_{1})(factor of "a"_{2}(x) + factor of "c"_{2})\] where \[(factor of "a"_{1})(factor of "c"_{2}) + (factor of "a"_{2})(factor of "c"_{1})=b\] is my formula for factoring quadratics into binomials but I want some approval from other people. I tried using it with a few quadratics and it works, although if you have all positive terms you end up needing complex numbers but yea thanks

OpenStudy (trantom):

a little of the first one is cut off the end is \[+ factor of "c"_{2})\]

OpenStudy (trantom):

@jdoe0001

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

looks right

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

sorta like the reverse FOIL, yes

OpenStudy (trantom):

thanks :D
