how do I write an equation in standard form for "passes through (2,5) and (8,-3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so, the equation for a line is y= mx + b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and first to do this you need to find slope, you know how to do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I need the answer dang it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, so the slope is 2/6, you put that into the equation with either of the points, so \[5=-8/3\times2 + b\] then you solve for b. so -8/3 times 2 is -16/3. 5+(-16/3) is 10.33. so the answer is \[y=-8/3x + 10.3333\]

thank you
