In an energy pyramid, the available amount of energy decreases by 90% in each trophic level, how is this energy used?

The energy is used for several metabolic reactions by the organism. Also the energy is lost as not whole of the organism is fed on. Like if you eat chicken of course you wont eat the bones right? so the energy stored in them is not reaching you. if you hav any further doubts message me or ask it here! ;)
