ok so because it is 3 in greater, the length, l is equal to 3+w
so the equation for perimteer is 2l + 2w=p, but you can subsitute for l
so \[2(w+3) +2w = p \]
so you distribute and get \[2w+6+2w = p\]
combine like terms\[4w +6 = 52\] (52 is p)
then solve \[4w= 46 \]\[w= 11.5\] and since l is w+ 3, \[l = 14.5\]
