Why were language, writing, and laws standardized during the rule of Shi Huangdi? Answers It was necessary in order to allow territorial officials to communicate with the emperor. It was a show of the strength and power of the emperor. Shi Huangdi was concerned that the prior differences held back the education of Chinese children. Their purpose was to solidify the cultural and territorial borders between China and other cultures.
