You are given this hypothesis: “if beans are grown in soil with compost, then they will grow at the same rate as beans grown in soil without compost because compost has no effect on the growth rate of beans.” You have access to these supplies and equipment: fifty bean seeds, fifty small pots, potting soil, compost, and grow lights. Write a brief scientific design to test this hypothesis. Include the aspects of good scientific design described in this lesson.
Well. You'd get the 50 small pots and put potting soil in all of them. Then, in only 25 of them you'd put compost. After that, plant the 50 beans into the small pots and place under grow lights. Make sure to water each plant at the same time each day and with the same amount of water to eliminate any other variables that might effect the results. After a certain growing period has passed, compare results.
