Write an equation, in slope-intercept form, of the line that passes through the point (5,4) with slope 1.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is it y= x+4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what is slope-intercept form?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y= mx+b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, now apply that into your equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which one is the slope? B or mx? :x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the mx is the slope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So whats B?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The B is the y-intercept

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just want to add, m is the slope, not mx. In case you ever needed to solve for slope, you're going to have issues if you think slope is mx :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

IParke is right, sorry, I didn't know if you would understand it if I put it like that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah I know that. My bad. And its okay :)
