Please help, no one in my online class can explain this to me...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f

OpenStudy (anonymous):

^F is false lmao

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

you knw how to interpret synthetic division result ?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

since, \(−6\) is on left side, you're dividing \((2x^2+9x−18)÷(x+6)\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no :,(

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

okay, its easy... the division is shown in the given diagram

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

look at bottom row, you're seeing 0 in the end right ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

if u get a 0 in the end, then that means -6 is a root

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay!

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

since -6 is a root, (x--6) = (x+6) will be a factor as well

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would 6 also be a root cause its 0?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh lol just saw what u posted

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

cool :) -6 is root, 6 is not a root ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait, yea just noticed that lol so the answers are: -6 is a root, and 6 and -6 are factors?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

so far, first 3 options are answers, lets check others as well

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

u can strike off fourth option, cuz synthetic division oly says -6 is the root, we dont knw whether 6 will be root or not.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A is true

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

A, B, C are true D is false

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

wat about E ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes because -6 is a factor?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f is false

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

-6 is a root. its like this :- if \(k\) is a root of a polynomial, then \((x-k)\) will be a factor

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

since \(-6\) is a root, \((x--6) = (x+6)\) will be a factor so we cannot say much about option E. so strike it off false

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh I understand now!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you!

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

good, wat about option F ?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

look at the bottom row again, u have :- 2 -3 0 2x-3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i worked it out and It came out as 2/3

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

we dont need to work :) just interpret the result :- 2x-3 is in the bottom row : that means 2x-3 is the quotient/result of the division. so F is true.

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

A, B, C and F are true.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

np :) work 1-2 synthetic division problems... it wud make more sense good luck !
