You could do this at home using a coffee filter.

Well, sand is homogeneous, but since you have a misxture that contains sand, marbles, and iron, making it a heterogeneous mixture, I would base it on each of those properties. I'm not familiar with marble. I know it's a mixture of things I think. Inorganic.
