PLEASE HELP!!! :( view problem in picture i will post as a comment below

OpenStudy (fernandez555):

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Fern: Israel obtained the solution set {-2,-7}. He should not be claiming that this is actually the solution set without first checking both "solutions" in the original equation. Would you do that for him, and then choose the correct answer from the four possible answers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The mistake was done when he squared both sides. That cannot be done, only if you first check the domain of x. So the answer will be D. He should have mentioned that under the square you cannot have - and the square of something cannot be equal to -. Can you do this instead of Israel?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Andras: would you be willing to let Fernandez check the validity of each potential solution in {-2,-7} first, and see what conclusion he makes?

OpenStudy (fernandez555):

I was stuck between B and C, but i havent done factoring in a while so im really not sure. ill try working it out, correct me if im wrong. one sec @mathmale
