The Coriolis effect is the result of which of the following? A. winds spinning off the equator B. the rotation of the earth on its axis C. the different air movements north and south of the equator D. the friction that slows down winds near the earth’s surface

Coriolis and centrifugal forces are examples of inertial forces. They are "fictional" in the sense that they do not exist for an observer in a non-rotating frame, but they are apparent in a rotating frame. Coriolis force is given by \[\vec{F} = -2m\vec\omega\times\vec{v}\] It is proportional to the cross product of angular velocity of the rotating frame and linear velocity of the object experiencing the force.
