[10.01] Which factor do you cancel from the numerator and denominator to simplify x squared plus 4 times x minus 5 all over x squared minus 25.? x + 5 x - 4 x - 5 x + 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x^2 + 4x - 5/(x^2 - 25)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This can also be written as x^2 + 4x - 5 / (x-5)(x+5) Which can also be written as (x + 5)(x-1) / (x-5)(x+5)

So its C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No it would actually not be. What they are asking is what term would you cancel out. The only way you could cancel out a term is if there was an equal amount on the bottom. Does both the numerator and donominator have the same term that can be crossed out?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So its A Because they got cross out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Correct :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes!!!!!!!
