Need Help?! Use synthetic division to find P(-3) for P(x)= x^4-2x^3-4x+4 ..

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

No sure why synthetic division is needed....just put x=-3 into the eqn right?

OpenStudy (otonogold):

Synthetic division is the short cut way not the long step by step way? & That is exactly why I am confused because there asking for synthetic division but I don't see why it is necessary ?

OpenStudy (otonogold):

So just show all the work on basically how I plug in P(-3) into the equation??

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

Haha yup yup - do u need 2 show steps or its a multi? For multi, just put x=-3 n pick the right answer :)

OpenStudy (superdavesuper):

Oh u need to show steps? :( yeah i guess u can only do wat u said

OpenStudy (otonogold):

Yea, I have to show steps sadly :/ lol. I'll just do it like that. Thank you again lol

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

The synthetic division looks like this, the circled remainder is the result of P(-3) |dw:1389328898055:dw|
