Why aren't we still using this design for OS? http://tctechcrunch2011.files.wordpress.com/2011/06/screen-shot-2011-06-08-at-5-09-31-pm.png

OpenStudy (compassionate):

No! Never again! Haha. I hated that design.

OpenStudy (compassionate):

There were a lot of problems with that design. I like the new design much better.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

same here

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

Dear lord please no, that design looks like it's full of glitches waiting to ruin our experience. It also looks pretty bad. :I

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

To me, it looks a lot better than what we have right now, aside from the fact that there's no icon for notifications, and it's spelled out. Also, it doesn't show messages and fans. Other than that, I would prefer it over the current design. Much cleaner.

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

Lol this seems to be much before when I got on the site.

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

O.o agreed with @karatechopper

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

yo, same tho

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mein Comp's word is law.

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

^ Mein Kampf*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

^You got it, HE GETS IT EVERYONE

OpenStudy (kainui):

Gross.

OpenStudy (aravindg):

Good ol' days...

OpenStudy (dumbsearch2):

I dislike it, it looks very little polished, bad padding, too much negative spacing, further more the colors look ill chosen, overuse of blue and too much stark contrast with grey.... dislike, I think it looks a lot smoother now... I like the posts design better now, its more clear whats going on

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

The top bar looks pretty incredible. Right now, things are too close together, and back there, there was a really good amount of space. Also, the earlier method of separating posts was just fine, as there was a big noticeable grey bar with colors and icons on it that makes it stand out, as opposed to tiny grey space. Also, the rounded corners on everything looks a lot better than sharp boxy everything.

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

The blue usernames are kinda pushing it though. I like the rest, except for the lack of an icon for the notifications, and no button for pms or fan checking.

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

And also, it seems that they showed whether questions were solved or not, even if they were still open, which could be helpful.

OpenStudy (opcode):

@poopsiedoodle I like part of the old design too, if you are using Firefox you can rewrite the CSS for a specific site (using StyleShout) to customize your experience. I did that for me, I got rid of the chats, and a bunch of other annoying things.

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

>doing an implies that people use firefox >doing an implies that I don't like to do a backseat moderating of chat

OpenStudy (lncognlto):

Whoa. I have never seen OS look like that. O.o But I like the way it is now just fine. ^-^

OpenStudy (lncognlto):

Out of curiosity, however, what did that little symbol next to the number of medals by a user's name mean? xD

OpenStudy (lncognlto):

Is it the user's SS? xD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mappa Kappa

OpenStudy (kainui):

@lncognlto It used to be that there wasn't any smart score, instead they would track a kind of reputation within each topic. So you could have a really good score in one subject like math, but if you never went to physics and visited, you wouldn't show up as one of the top people on the right, since the ranking was individual for each subject.

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

Btw, I just meant the design, not the system or the bugs.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I like [just] the design. It's simple and cool.

OpenStudy (kailee1423):

I like the design we have now.

OpenStudy (dumbsearch2):

Though I do agree that the top bar could be consolidated like how it used to be. That would be cool.

OpenStudy (poopsiedoodle):

Indeed.

OpenStudy (opcode):

Give me a day, and I'll write a little add-on to do this ;-). (Actually make that a few days...)
