Which system has no solutions? x > 3 x < 1 x > 3 x > 1 x < 3 x < 1 x < 3 x > 1

OpenStudy (ranga):

See if you can pick a value for x that would satisfy both inequalities. For example, the last one: x < 3 x > 1 you can pick x = 2. It satisfies BOTH inequalities and therefore it has a solution. Try similar procedure for the others.

how do i do that?

OpenStudy (ranga):

You can try drawing a diagram for each answer choice. That may be easier to see which ones have solution and which one does not. I will draw for the last one:

OpenStudy (ranga):

So any number between 1 and 3 will be a solution to both inequalities of the last answer choice because it satisfies both inequalities.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

|dw:1389329146846:dw|... lol...I can't draw... as you can see, the solutions for both inequalities do not match, therefore, there is no solution for the set of inequalities
