|5x + 2| + 7 < 19 Isolate the absolute expression. subtract 7 from both sides: |5x + 2| < 12 Whenever |A| < B it implies -B < A < B Therefore, -12 < 5x + 2 < 12 subtract 2 from all three parts: -14 < 5x < 10 divide by 5: -14/5 < x < 2

|2x - 7| < 13 implies -13 < 2x - 7 < 13 solve for x the same way I did the first question.
