**Please help!! I give medals!! Which statement is true of women in the late 1700s and early 1800s? Most of them could vote, but few could own property. Most of them had very little education. They made up the bulk of the slave population. They were considered a moral and political force.

It would depend very much on their social class. Girls of the wealthy classes, rich merchants, landowners etc might be educated at home by governesses, or they might go to fashionable boarding schools where the emphasis would be on elegant accomplishments like music, dancing, drawing, painting, embroidery, French etc.

B. Most of them had very little education. I got this question right on my exam.

OpenStudy (theatre):

yes it was B. Question Information: A woman's place is in the home. Though not necessarily still true today, this was certainly the belief in the late 1700s and early 1800s. Women were to take care of their family and home. Since women could not vote, own property, or own their own businesses, many even believed that educating women would be wasteful!
