Please someone help! Frank is building a rectangular garden like the first one shown below with sides of x and x + 7. a. Write a polynomial expression that represents the area of the garden. Be sure to simplify your expression. b. Frank adds a 2-foot wide walkway around all sides of the garden as the second one shown below. Write a polynomial expression that represents the total area of the garden and walkway. Be sure to simplify your expression.

Area = L * W So: Area = (x+7) * x = x^2 +7x

writing this down but oK

Area with Walkway includes 4 extra feet on each side so you can write this as: Area = (x+7+4)*(x+4) = (x+11) * (x+4) then you have to multiply that to get the answer.

44?

Dear Yolo: How will the overall dimensions of the garden change if a 2 foot walkway is built around the garden? Once you have those new dimensions, A = L*W.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Be careful not to count any area more than once! I think I've made that mistake already.
