OpenStudy (anonymous):

why is the moon white

OpenStudy (phi):

it is made of white cheese ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Rocky Moon Well, it's more gray-ish. The only reason it appears white to us on Earth is because when the sun is behind us, the reflection from the sun lights the moon up.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ummm actually its grey

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That gray color you see comes from the surface of the Moon which is mostly oxygen, silicon, magnesium, iron, calcium and aluminum.

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

its just dead matter

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what?^^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok,jw

Parth (parthkohli):

The right question is why things have color.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol,ikr

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

to do wid self-lunimous or fake luminous something humm..

Parth (parthkohli):

How Can Mirrors Be Real If Our Eyes Aren't Real

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its the way light reflects off of everything

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

weird question lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wtf is wrong with you eyes are real

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

who says our eyes aren't real

Parth (parthkohli):

Nobody gets the reference :(

OpenStudy (ikram002p):

cuz its not red , green or watever :P

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

lol why earth is blue

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

we're developing an interesting theory it seems ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cuss of water

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

water are colorless if i remember humm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right tight

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

we need feyman :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

who?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

this guy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMFPe-DwULM

OpenStudy (isaiah.feynman):

The moon actually has a dark grey color, but the materials on its surface have luster thus making the moon appear "white"

OpenStudy (ikram002p):

i think earth is blue cuz of O3 in sky which give a blue reflection on water then water reflect sun ray , how ever the moon is white or gray i think cuz of metal reflection or atleats thats wat i cud think of :|

Parth (parthkohli):

Or it just reflects the blue sky.

Parth (parthkohli):

Rayleigh Scattering.

OpenStudy (isaiah.feynman):

No, the Earth is blue, because that particular color is reflected when gaseous molecules in the atmosphere interacts with photons from the sun through a process called COMPTON SCATTERING. A quantum mechanical phenomenon.

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

u said quantum physics ? lol everybody ran -_-

OpenStudy (isaiah.feynman):

Including the great ganeshie. :P

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

lol yes :( idk much about quantum physics lets call @Kainui :)

OpenStudy (isaiah.feynman):

Yeah, he seems to know more.

Parth (parthkohli):

@ganeshie8 you have reached pretty far even if you know about subshells, orbitals and quantum numbers!

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

yes those all i knw but its dangerous to belive in them yet. i wanted to understand shrodinger wave equaiton first for that i need to learn probability... the list goes on :'(
