find the value of x
Post question please~
Please look this up: http://www.mathsisfun.com/geometry/interior-angles-polygons.html The sum of all five interior angles of a pentagon is 540 degrees. Doesn't matter if the lengths of the five sides are different from one another. Thus, referring to your figure, the sum of the interior angles is 100+8x+8 +5x+10 + 80 +160 = 540. Solve that for x.
Not understanding how I solve for X
Look at the equation I gave you in my last response. Add together all the constants on the left side. Then add together all the terms that include x on the left side. Does this make sense? Can you now complete the solution of this problem?
its 14?
I worked it out completely
5 = # of sides in a pentagon (5 - 2)180° = 3(180) = 540° sum of all the interior angles angles in picture are 100°, 160, 80, (8x + 8), and (5x + 10) so... 100 + 180 + 80 + (8x + 8) + (5x + 10) = 540 add like terms 280 + 80 + 8x + 5x + 8 + 10 = 540 460 + 13x + 18 = 540 See?
sorry, it's 360, not 460
360 + 13x + 18 = 540 378 + 13x = 540 13x = 162 hm...x comes out as a number with decimals. I wonder if I made a mistake...
