How do you find the average speed of something?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Basically you break up the distance you traveled by each unit of time. In other words you divide the distance by the time. In your case, however, since your time is in minutes the answer would be in miles-per-minute. I'm guessing you want the answer in miles-per-hour, so to convert from miles-per-minute to miles-per-hour you divide the miles-per-minute by 60 (the number of minutes in an hour).

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

average speed = Total distance divided by total time.

oh ok but what if its 30 minutes do I divide by 30 and what if I have more than one distances?

oh ok thanks @agent0smith
