OpenStudy (studygurl14):

3 + 8 = 11 total marbles odds of picking a white marble: 8/11 So A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

careful here

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would totally agree with that to but for some reason I was told by my teacher and many others that it was wrong I just cant understand what else it could be.

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

I think...but actually I'm not sure. It could be a ratio, in hich case it would be C.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

odds are not the same a probabilites

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ratio of white marbles to green marbles is \(8:3\)

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

It is C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, it is always C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I see now thanks guys!:D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

odds are what gamblers use odds in favor, odds against, etc

OpenStudy (anonymous):

unlike probabilities they can be greater than 1, like saying the odds are two to one that means the probability of the event would be \(\frac{2}{3}\)
