The FOIL method is an offshoot of the distributive property, in that you are to distribute each term of one binomial across the other binomial MULTIPLYING POLYNOMIALS BY POLYNOMIALS Is this what you meant?

Yes, after you've done the indicated multiplication, the first term WILL be a 1. Please use the FOIL method to multiply those two binomials together.
