Am I right?
I'd be much more interested in seeing how you got those results. But yes, you are correct.
@phi
x=-1, y=2 is one of many solutions. if you divide the 2nd equation by 2, you will get the first equation. in other words, the 2nd equation lies on top of the first equation (they are lines) representing an infinite number of solutions
So i was right :D
I also did the elimination method which made them all cancel out, but I had a doubt as to what that meant so I did substitution :}
Nice work, phi! I'd overlooked that. Care to elaborate on this problem, perhaps using the word "coincide"?
if you use elimination, you will get 3 possible outcomes: x = a number (and so does y) the "equation" 0 = 0 or the equation 0 = some # 0 = 0 means an infinite number of solutions 0= some # means no solution
yup, can u help em with another?
I keep forgetting this
plot the points. which one falls on the line ?
is it A ? :O
no C ._.
Total brain fart on this one ;~: City A and City B had two different temperatures on a particular day. On that day, four times the temperature of City A was 8° C more than 3 times the temperature of City B. The temperature of City A minus twice the temperature of City B was –3° C. What was the temperature of City A and City B on that day?
four times the temperature of City A was 8° C more than 3 times the temperature of City B. can you change that into an equation?
no idea it just say, City A was 5° C, and City B was 4° C. City A was 3° C, and City B was –1° C. City A was 8° C, and City B was –3° C. City A was 5° C, and City B was –5° C. I tried to make it an equation.. but didn't work out. Maybe i did something wrong
let the temperature of city A be "A" four times the temperature of City A becomes 4A was 8° C more than was becomes = 8 more than becomes 8+ so far: 4A = 8+ 3 times the temperature of City B becomes 3B 4A= 8+3B
Now do this one: temperature of City A minus twice the temperature of City B was –3° C
4A - 2x = -3 ?
close. but it does not say four times the temp of city A
a - 2x = -3 ?
yes (I assume x is the temp of city B?... I would use "b" because it is easy to remember what variable is what)
How would i solve that lol ;~;
using A and B for the variables 4A= 8+3B A-2B= -3 you can use elimination or substitution
It A :)))
can you help me with 3 more?
>.<
signing off... football playoffs, you know.
ohh kk baiii Ty for all your help :P
