Question 36....Let Time =x and Height = y. Now take any two of the values given and use the formula y-y1/x-x1 = m (slope). Onnce you have the slope then do figure your formula using one of the values y-y1= m(x-x1)
I'm really confused
Let's do the slope first on problem 36. The line shows a time of 2 and a height of 12. So we will make x = 2 and y = 12. The next line shows a time of 4 and a height of 17. So we will make x1=4 and y1=17. We figure the slope as follows\[(12-17) / (2-4) = -5/-2 \]
Slope formula is y -y1 / x-x1 =m. The slope of -5/-2 or 5/2.
Once we have the slope we need to take on of the lines, say Time =2 and Height = 12 and form our equations. The slope intercept equation would be \[(y-12)= \frac{ 5 }{ 2 } (x-2)\]
none of those are the options?
